Yesterday I reported running over to Larchmont Reservoir on my lunch hour to see a new Life Bird, a Barnacle Goose. That was nice, much more memorable than lunch at McDonald’s.
Today, I was talking with Mike Bochnik, who is the guru of birding history and records in the local area. For example, Mike has records of all the local Christmas Bird Counts for the last 85 years. He states that this was first reported Barnacle Goose ever seen in Westchester. Recently, one was spotted at VanCortland Park in the Bronx. But the Larchmont bird is a Westchester County record.
I wish every lunch break could be as significant as yesterday
